The unseasonal weather has led to significant damage to property and infrastructure. Reports indicate that walls have collapsed, and trees have been uprooted, blocking roads and disrupting essential services. The Bowring Hospital experienced a wall collapse, prompting authorities to order safety audits for all medical education hospital buildings.
Beyond the loss of life and infrastructure damage, the city's cultural fabric has also been affected. A well-known bookstore on Church Street reported a devastating loss, with an estimated 5,000 books, valued at approximately Rs 14 lakh, being ruined by the rainwater. The traffic police have issued advisories to commuters to navigate the city cautiously.
